Please Read this before submitting an intake Request Form
Thank you for Reaching out to Carolina Coonhound Rescue for help. Your Request is important to us and we do our best to respond to as many as possible. Please understand that we receive a large number of intake requests on a daily basis and we may not be able to individually respond to all of them. We are all volunteer and do not have any paid positions within our organization. If you do not hear from us, it is because we are unfortunately unable to help at the moment and all of our fosters are full. We have listed resources at the bottom to help.
OWNER SURRENDER:
We accept owner surrenders on a case by case basis but our priority lies with hounds that are in shelters and at risk of Euthanasia. We DO NOT accept dogs with a bite history because we are unable to adopt those dogs out and we are not set up to be able to offer them Sanctuary. We suggest hiring a trainer and/or consulting a veterinarian for these cases and most other cases of owner surrender.
FOUND DOG:
If you have found a dog and need help with rescue, please make sure that you have done your part to make sure the dog does not have a family searching for him/her. Have the dog scanned for a microchip at a local vet or shelter and contact shelters and veterinarians in the area the dog is found in to inquire about missing reports. Check craigslist and facebook lost/found and swap pages in that area as well. We will consider these dogs once those avenues have been exhausted.
When sending an intake request please note that requests that do not have pictures attached will not be considered.
All of our organization is based in Charleston SC. We do adopt out of state, but we do not have fosters or other "chapters" outside of our area. We accept dogs from South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia primarily, however will occasionally take dogs from Florida, virginia, and tennessee. We do no accept any dogs from areas not listed due to logistics and the amount of requests we receive. please reach out to the resources below if you are not in these areas.
